A group of young backpackers’ vacations go sour when a bus accident leaves them in a remote Brazilian countryside that holds an ominous secret. Three young American tourists, Alex, his sister Bea, and their friend Amy are backpacking in Brazil. They decide to go by bus and go straight to the north-eastern beaches instead of traveling to the parts of the country they want to visit. After releasing all the passengers trapped in a bus accident, they are joined by two English men, Finn and Liam, and an Australian woman, Pru, who is fluent in Portuguese. The group searches for a time where many other tourists and locals are partying. After spending the day at the beach, he is given an intoxicating drink and faints.
The next morning, they wake up on a deserted beach, looting their belongings, money and documents. Looking for help in a nearby village, they clash with the locals as they notice that some of their belongings are damaged or lying nearby. Offering help, Kiko, a local who speaks some English, escorts volunteers to a deserted house in the woods where they can wait for a helicopter. On the way home, Kiko shows a group a cave under a waterfall, but, while diving into the water, suffers serious head injuries. Entering the house, they consume food, clothing and several medicines, as well as a drawer full of other people’s passports. They manage to heal Keiko’s wounds and reluctantly decide to spend the night.
