Movie Plot: In Britannia, AD 62, a tribe of Celtic horsemen are ruthlessly wiped out by the Romans led by Corvas (Kiefer Sutherland). The only survivor is a boy named Milo, whose mother Corves was personally killed. The boy is captured by the slave traders.
Seventeen years later, in 79 AD, in Londinium, a slave owner named Grecus (Joe Pingu) sees a class of gladiators fighting. Meet Milo (Kit Harrington), a gifted gladiator until he’s a grown “Celt” who, he says, “doesn’t disappoint.” Milo is soon brought to Pompeii with his fellow slaves. On the road, they see a horse collapsing while carrying Cassia (Emily Browning), returning to Rome a year later, and her servant Erne (Jessica Lucas). Milo kills the horse to end his suffering, and Cassia comes to him.
Cassia is the daughter of the city’s governor, Severus (Jared Harris) and his wife Aurelia (Carrie-Anne Moss). Svres is hoping that the new emperor Titus will invest in plans to rebuild Pompeii, but Cassia warns him of Rome becoming more corrupt. A servant named Felix (Dumber Abujid) takes Cassia’s horsetails for a ride when an earthquake from Mount Vesuvius opens to the ground beneath it.
