Since coming to Earth as children, Superman Metro Man has fought Magalind for the dominance of Metro City. In their latest plan, Megamind and his sider minion kidnap reporter Roxanne Ritchie and take her hostage at a copper-lined observatory. When the Metro man comes to rescue him, he finds the observatory empty and Megamind traps him. Metro Man is found distracted by the copper weakening and Megamind’s death. Megamind finally takes control of the city and enjoys his celebration with the minions. However, Megamind soon finds that his life is meaningless without Metro Man.
While roaming the recently opened Metro Man Museum, Megamind takes a close look at Roxanne and uses her holographic disguise to take the form of Bernard, the museum’s curator. He talks to Roxanne and is attracted to her, and is inspired by one of her statements to create a new superhero to fight her. Megamind returns to his lair and creates a serum containing the DNA of the Metro man, which he plans to inject a proper candidate with his diffuser gun. However, Roxney reaches his lair with his diminutive cameraman, Hal Stewart, and causes Megamind to inadvertently inject Hal with a serum. Megamind himself “appears” as the recent “Space Dad” and denies being his superhero “Titan”. Titan trained him with Megamind for several days before issuing a challenge to fight him.
